Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Audio-Visual (AV) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience in the field and be proficient with the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment to ensure flawless execution of events, presentations, meetings, and gallery installations.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, set up, and operate audio-visual equipment, including speakers, microphones, projectors, screens, and video conferencing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AV equipment during events and presentations.
  • Collaborate with event organizers and presenters to understand their AV requirements and provide technical support.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and quality checks on AV equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in the installation and integration of audiovisual systems in various spaces.
  • Help train staff and end-users on the proper use of AV equipment.
  • Ability to explain technical issues in a non-technical manner.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with installing and maintaining AV equipment in gallery and public space settings (including but not limited to: cable termination, rack building, understanding of safe mounting and anchoring techniques, digital and analog playback, switching and distribution systems, Brightsign authoring).
  • Excellent computer skills to deal with the Museum’s increasing reliance on network and computer-based technology.
  • Technical proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment.
  • Strong understanding of audio and video signal flow.
  • Proficient in operating digital and analog audio mixers, video switchers, projections, and conference room control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality AV experiences.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Audio-Visual Technology
  • Related field experience
