Job Summary

Macano Tech is seeking a Qualifying Agent to serve as the licensed Certified Electrical Contractor (EC) of record for our New York operations. This role provides license qualification for the company and leadership across permitting, compliance, and execution of commercial/industrial electrical projects (including EV charging, solar/BESS, and facility power). The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong code knowledge, permitting experience, and a track record of safely delivering projects on time and within budget. This is an immediate hire.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Qualifying Agent (license holder of record) for the company in New York; ensure ongoing compliance with DBPR and local jurisdictions.
• Oversee permitting, plans review, inspections, and closeouts; interface with AHJs and utilities.
• Provide technical direction for estimating, design-assist, and field execution; approve submittals and methods.
• Enforce adherence to NEC/NFPA , New York Building Code, OSHA, and company safety program.
• Manage or mentor project managers, superintendents, and field crews; support workforce planning.
• Review and sign/seal (where applicable) permit packages, as-builts, and compliance documentation.
• Support vendor/subcontractor qualification, material take-offs, and schedule/cost control.
• Participate in QA/QC, site walks, RFIs, and change order review.
• Maintain license status, continuing education, and company registrations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active New York Certified Electrical Contractor (EC) license in good standing
• Meets statutory requirements to serve as Qualifying Agent for a contracting business (DBPR).
• 5+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, including supervisory responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience with permitting and inspections across multiple New York jurisdictions.
• Expert knowledge of NEC , construction means & methods, and electrical safety.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites statewide.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EV charging, solar/BESS, switchgear, generators, and medium-voltage work.
• Background in design-build/design-assist delivery and reading stamped plans/specs.
• Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety training.
• Prior experience qualifying a company as a Primary or Secondary Qualifying Agent .
