Position Overview

We're seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with CPA certification to join our team. This role will manage day-to-day accounting operations in collaboration with our fractional CFO. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and a collaborative spirit to help maintain our financial health as we scale.  

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Maintain accurate general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
  • Support budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Handle employee payroll

Revenue Recognition & Analysis

  • Manage revenue recognition for diverse income streams including advertising, content production (video, audio, book publishing), and tour operations
  • Track and analyze key financial metrics for all business unites
  • Assist with contract review for revenue implications

Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist with annual audit and tax preparation
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards
  • Maintain documentation for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Support quarterly board reporting and investor relations

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize accounting software and financial systems
  • Develop and document accounting procedures and controls in tandem with our CFO
  • Support implementation of new financial tools and processes
  • Assist with month-end and year-end efficiency improvements
  • Assist in improving company workflow processes for operational efficiencies

Qualifications

Required:

  • CPA certification (active and in good standing)
  • 3-5 years of public accounting or corporate finance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with multi-location or multi-revenue stream businesses preferred
