Step into a Day on the Floor

Morning light hits the shop bays of our fast-moving steel fabrication team supporting structural, industrial, oil & gas, bridge, and specialty construction. You pull up the latest drawings, note weld symbols, and plan your fit-up. From first tack to final pass, you turn concepts into finished steel assemblies—plates, beams, stairs, platforms, and other miscellaneous metals—ready for install.

Most joins are made with MIG (GMAW), with occasional flux-cored (FCAW) passes when the job calls for it. You’ll measure, lay out, fit, tack, and weld to specification—then verify quality and make any needed rework. Grinders, cutting torches, and saws are your everyday tools, and a clean, safe, organized work area is non-negotiable. When the shop needs a hand, you pitch in with rigging and material handling. Tough joint? You’ll partner closely with engineering/design to troubleshoot and refine the approach.

Core Work You’ll Handle

• Execute MIG (GMAW) welding with periodic FCAW on structural steel, plate, beams, stairs, platforms, and miscellaneous metals
• Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols to plan fit-up and sequence
• Lay out, fit, tack, and weld components to meet dimensional and quality requirements
• Use grinders, cutting torches, saws, and common fab tools to prep and finish work
• Inspect welds, uphold quality standards, and complete rework as needed
• Maintain a tidy, safe, and organized station
• Occasionally assist with rigging, material handling, and general shop support
• Collaborate with engineering/design to resolve fabrication and welding challenges

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience as a MIG/structural welder-fabricator
• Ability to read blueprints and accurately interpret welding symbols
• Strong layout, fit-up, tacking, and finish-welding skills
• Working knowledge of steel types, welding processes, and weld quality standards
• Comfort with hand and power tools used in metal fabrication
• Detail orientation, strong safety mindset, and a willingness to learn
• High school diploma or equivalent
• AWS certification is a plus (not required)
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
