14077 - Wind Electrical Engineer / WTG Engineer (onsite, remote option) – Juno Beach, FL Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temporary Project
Estimated Duration: 4+ months (for 18158) and 12+ months (for 18347) with possible extensions.
Work Setting: Willing and able to climb wind turbines (both roles). Remote option (for 18158). Onsite, Estimated travel 20% to wind sites and vendor shops (for 18159)
Required: For 18158 Wind Turbine Electrical Engineer: • Experience supporting wind turbine operations and maintenance, focusing on electrical systems up to 690VAC/230VDC;
• Experience pitching systems, motors, drives, and power electronics.
For 18159 Wind Turbine Generator Equipment Engineer: • Experience specifically in working with large motors and/or generators across design, manufacturing, and/or field environments (5+ years);
• Experience with diagnostic tools such as Vibration Monitoring, Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA, ESA), and endoscopic inspections.
• Experience with ISO 9001 standards for Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis
• Experience with writing repair, operations, and/or maintenance procedures and specifications
Preferred:
For 18159 Wind Turbine Generator Equipment Engineer • Experience with wind generation
Responsibilities: • Support Wind Turbine Electrical Systems: Provide technical expertise for the operation and maintenance of wind turbine electrical systems, including components up to 690VAC/230VDC.
• Oversee Motors, Drives, and Power Electronics: Evaluate, troubleshoot, and support repair or replacement of pitching systems, motors, drives, and related power electronics to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain and Improve Generator Equipment: Support the operation and maintenance of large motor/generator systems across a fleet of 14,000+ wind turbines throughout North America.
• Diagnose and Resolve Electrical Issues: Identify root causes of electrical system failures, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate repair efforts to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with Field and Engineering Teams: Work closely with site technicians, engineering teams, and OEM representatives to address electrical performance issues and implement solutions.
• Develop and Update Technical Documentation: Create and maintain electrical schematics, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides for wind turbine systems and components.
• Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Analyze performance data, propose system enhancements, and contribute to strategies that improve reliability, efficiency, and safety of wind turbine electrical operations.
